The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is accepting applications for its five loan repayment programs. The NIH loan repayment programs, which repay up to $35000 annually by physician for qualified educational obligation are available to health care professionals in the areas of clinical research, clinical research for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, contraception and infertility research, health disparities, and pediatric research. The programs also provide coverage for federal and state tax liabilities. To qualify, applicants must have a doctoral-level grade devote 50 percent or more of their time (i.e., 20 hours by week based on a 40-hour work week) to research storeed by a domestic nonprofit organization or command entity (federal, state, or local), and have educational loan due of at least 20 percent of their institutional base salary. Applicants also must be U citizens, permanent U residents, or U nationals to be eligible. Applications must be complet by the agency of December 1, 2005.
