BLINDING AND ALLOCATION CONCEALMENT

Allocation concealment not long ago has been recognized as an important proper state of randomized controlled trial design. Allocation is concealed when neither the participants nor the researchers know or can predict to which cluster in a study (control or treatment) the patient is assigned. Allocation concealment takes place before the investigation begins, as patients are being assigned. Blinding--concealing the application of mind group assignment from those participating in the study--occur after the meditation begins. Blinding should involve the patient, the physicians caring for the patient, and the researcher. It is particularly important that the bodily substances assessing outcomes also are blinded as to the patient's application of mind group assignment.
