The National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) Board of Directors has decided not to perform a next to the first match for candidates choosing residency programs. In making its decision, the board noted that residency program directors, institutional officers, and medical drill student affairs staff cited implementation question s associated with pursuing a next to the first match, such as the requirement that unfilled programs participate in a inferior match and the rule that phase single in kind match results would not be released until conclusion of phase sum of two units Overall, only 44 percent of residency program directors and medical instruct officials surveyed favored a other match.
