The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has awarded $11 million to the state of Florida to provide mental health services to victims of the hurricanes that struck the state in 2004 The award is in addition to the more than $55 million already provided in necessity aid funds through the Federal pass Management Agency Crisis Counseling and Training Assistance Program. The grants will be used to establish multi-disciplinary treatment teams in the 27 counties in the greatest degree affected. Teams will help provide mental health and other community services for displaced residents and special populations like as immigrants, migrant workers, and somewhat old persons.
