The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has announced the Director's Pioneer Award program, a first note of the scale component of the NIH Roadmap for Medical Research. The award supports scientists with innovative approaches to challenges in biomedical research. In September 2005 the NIH awaits to announce five to 10 awards of up to $500000 in direct splendors per year for five years.
