In replication to directives from ...
In replication to directives from the 2004 Congres of Delegates, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) sent a literal sense to the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) about the Maintenance of Certification Program for Family Physicians. The literal meaning sent by Board Chair Michael Fleming, MD Shreveport, La., outlined pair resolutions adopted by the delegates and a series of recommendations to the board upon how the objectives of those resolutions might be achieved. The literal meaning recommends making completion of the self-assessment module optional in 2004 and 2005; cutting the number of module required to three for recertification cycle, or one each other year; providing paper versions of the now online-only module for several years to aid in transitioning to the strange process; including more specific information about correct versus incorrect answers; and addressing technical puzzles that family physicians have experienced forward the module Web site.
