The AAFP, AAP, and American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) have published a just discovered guideline on otitis media with effusion. According to the guideline, physicians should wait at least three month before actively treating otitis media with effusion in children. It also states that physicians should use pneumatic otoscopy as a primary diagnostic [i]modus operandi[/i] for otitis media with effusion and document the laterality, duration of effusion, and mien of symptoms at each assessment.
