According to data released from the Association of American Medical guilds (AAMC), the number of applicants to U medical drills this year increased by 34 percent for the first time in six years. Almost 35000 bodily substances applied to attend medical instruct in the 2003-2004 school year compared with 33625 last year. The main reason for the increase was the number of female applicants (17672) who made up more than single half of medical school applicants for the first time. The number of black applicants overall rose almost 5 percent to 2736 yet the number of blacks who enrolled medical school declined by 6 percent to 1056 Black female applicants increased on almost 10 percent to 1904 Hispanic applicants increased by dint of less than 2 percent to 2483 while the number who go intoed medical school declined by almost 4 percent to 1089 Included in the applicant pond were 26,160 persons who were applying to medical teach for the first time. The data also showed that the sharp decline in male applicants, a trending that started in 1997, evened off this year with a total of 17113 applicants, which was slightly more than last year. The number of applicants applying to medical academy peaked at around 47,000 in 1996 and reached the lowest point last year.
